R.H. White Construction recently presented donations to three employee-selected charities following nine months of fundraising in honor of the company’s 100th anniversary. Easterseals of Massachusetts, Alzheimer’s Association of MA/NH, and The Greg Hill Foundation each received checks for $100,000.
The check presentations took place at Kimball Farm in Westford, MA on Saturday, September 30, 2023, during the company’s Family Day outing which had more than 400 employees and their family members on hand.
Company president, Tom White, said, “I am inspired and proud of this effort. This was no small feat and the amount of work undertaken by our employees and the generosity of many of our business partners is directly benefiting these three very worthy charities. It is also the embodiment of our core purpose which is to create well-being for our people, our customers, and our communities. Giving back is a fundamental philosophy for our company that has been in place since my great-grandfather founded R.H. White and I am grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s goal a reality.”
R.H. White employees planned three major fundraising events – one for each charity – during the year and then supplemented these efforts with corporate sponsorships and internal fundraising events.
In March a gala dinner, with live and silent auctions, was held at Mechanics Hall in Worcester to benefit Easterseals of Massachusetts. In June a golf tournament at Stow Acres Country Club in Stow, MA, where both the north and south courses were sold out, was dedicated to the Alzheimer’s Association of MA/NH, and in August the company held an event for The Greg Hill Foundation at Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, MA.
The company’s fundraising efforts were then capped off with a week-long online employee auction that fostered a lot of good-hearted bidding competitions among colleagues and raised nearly $10,000. Approximately 50 auction items were up for grabs and included everything from a weekend get-away to Cape Cod, gift baskets, R.H. White company store gift certificates, and of course some tools including Milwaukee® and DeWalt® brands given our construction roots.
